It is just the beginning of the postgenomic era. My doctorate in the field of Medical and Molecular Genetics has provided me with a solid foundation in genetics, cancer biology, necessary scientific computation, and statistics.
I cloned several new genes related to HCC (human hepatocellular carcinoma) and identified their functional role in some pathways.
I also conducted bioinformatics and data mining research on some gene families and tried to gain some insights into their roles in cancer. I systematically used the bioinformatics database and tools to analyze the evolution of the Cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) family；it’s the first time of revealing the CDK4/6-cyclin D complex may have been the key step in the evolution of cell cycle control during eumetazoan emergence.
